G’day, punters. We’re steaming into the middle third of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, and the mid-May double-header of Rounds 9 and 10 is where the pretenders start to fall away and the genuine flag contenders begin to flex their muscle. With the bye rounds still a few weeks away, we’ve got a full slate of footy and, more importantly, a stack of betting opportunities.

Whether you’re looking to build a fat multi for Saturday arvo or hunting down some juicy player prop value, we’ve crunched the numbers, looked at the weather forecasts, and studied the head-to-head history to bring you the sharpest plays for Rounds 9 and 10.

Round 9 Spotlight: The Friday Night Blockbuster

Carlton vs. Collingwood (MCG) – Friday, 15th May 2026
The old enemy clash rarely disappoints, and with both sides sitting just inside the top eight, this has a finals-like atmosphere written all over it.

  • The Bet: Collingwood to WIN ($2.15)
  • Why: The Magpies have had the wood over Carlton in recent high-pressure matches, winning 4 of the last 5 H2H encounters. The Blues are sweating on the fitness of Charlie Curnow (ankle), and even if he plays, he’s unlikely to be at 100%. The ‘Pies midfield pressure is relentless, and they represent solid value as underdogs at the ‘G.
  • Player Prop to Watch: Nick Daicos 30+ Disposals ($1.72). He averages 34 touches in his last three against the Blues. Bank it.

Sydney vs. Brisbane (SCG) – Saturday Twilight

  • The Bet: Total Points UNDER 168.5 ($1.88)
  • Why: The SCG has been a graveyard for high-scoring shootouts in 2026 due to the heavy dew setting in early during twilight fixtures. Both of these sides boast elite defensive units (Swans #1 for points against, Lions #3). Expect a contested, scrappy, low-possession game. The Under looks the safest play on the board.

Round 10 Value Plays: The “Trap Game” Alert

Adelaide Crows vs. GWS Giants (Adelaide Oval)

  • The Bet: GWS Giants +18.5 Line ($1.90)
  • Why: The Crows are flying high on top of the ladder, but this is a classic “letdown spot” after a brutal Showdown win against Port Adelaide. GWS have historically matched up well against Adelaide’s forward structure. The Giants have covered the line in their last 4 visits to Adelaide Oval. Take the points and back the Orange Tsunami to keep it close, even if they don’t get the chocolates.

Fremantle vs. Gold Coast Suns (Optus Stadium)

  • The Bet: Gold Coast to WIN ($2.75)
  • Why: We’re calling the upset here. Fremantle is notoriously flaky at home early in the season, and the Suns are travelling on a 6-day break off a confidence-boosting win over Richmond. Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson are dominating the clearance game right now. At nearly $3.00, the Suns are the best outright value bet of the fortnight.

The Mid-May Multi of the Moment

Combine these legs for a juicy same-game multi or a round combo:

  1. Collingwood H2H vs Carlton
  2. Jeremy Cameron 3+ Goals (Geelong vs North Melbourne – North’s backline is too young to stop him)
  3. Under 168.5 Points (Sydney vs Brisbane)
  4. GWS +18.5 Line

Total Multi Odds: $13.45 (Place a small stake for a big weekend payout).

Player Prop Specials: Who’s Firing?

Toby Greene (GWS) – Anytime Goal Scorer & 2+ Goals ($3.20)
Toby loves playing in Adelaide. He’s kicked multiple goals in 5 of his last 6 games against the Crows. The Power/Adelaide double week means the crowd will be on his back, and he thrives on the villain energy.

Harley Reid (West Coast) – 25+ Disposals ($2.65)
This is the “Harley Hype” special. With Tim Kelly likely to be tagged heavily, expect the Eagles to unleash Reid from the centre square for longer bursts in Round 10 against a rebuilding Hawthorn midfield. The kid is a contested beast; back him to fill the stat sheet.

A Word on Weather & Late Changes

Remember punters, mid-May in Melbourne and Sydney can be unpredictable. Keep an eye on the Bureau of Meteorology radar an hour before bounce for any late showers that could swing the total points line drastically. Also, ensure your betting app has Same Game Multi Cash Out enabled—nothing worse than watching 4 legs land only for the 5th to die in the last 2 minutes.

Lock in these plays now before the markets shift. Happy punting, and may your multis be alive into the final quarter.
